Department of Information Systems Wireless Contract Transition Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How can I get more information on this transition?
A: It is our understanding that the Department of Finance and Administration - Office of State Procurement will host Customer forums to address the new wireless contract and available features such as multiple vendors, new rate plans and equipment options.

Q: When is the last day I can order from DIS?
A: Friday, January 30, 2004, will be the last day to submit service request for new phones, existing phone or service upgrades or changes to existing phones or services.

Q: Is there an ordering freeze period?
A: Yes. In order to accurately account for all customer activity and be able to end the existing contract no later than April 9, 2004, no service request will be accepted from February 1 - April 9, 2004.

Q: Can I port my wireless number?
A: Yes, IF your number's prefix is from one of the following Arkansas counties: Crittenden, Faulkner, Lonoke, Pulaski or Saline. You can only port your local wireless number. You cannot port your phone.

Q: Will my existing wireless phone/equipment from Cingular work with a different provider?
A: No. You should expect to purchase equipment from your new provider that is compatible with their respective service.

Q: Will DIS continue to respond to my future ordering requests, billing questions and general wireless customer service?
A: No. Because of the transition to multiple vendors, each agency customer will deal directly with the wireless provider they choose.

Q: Who are my new wireless provider choices?
A: The new vendors will be announced during the Customer forums to be hosted by DFA/OSP.

Q: When can I begin ordering from the new vendors?
A: As soon as the new vendors are announced, each agency customer should begin their selection process. The existing wireless contract will not carry over to the new agreement.

Q: What happens if I don't respond by the April 9 deadline?
A: It is imperative that a vendor selection be made prior to the April 9 deadline or service will be interrupted.

Q: What about my existing personal employee plan?
A: Cingular will continue to honor these plans.
