Yessica Jones, deputy director of the Arkansas Department of Information Systems (DIS), was designated by Gov. Asa Hutchinson to serve as acting director when the position was vacated by former director, Mark Myers, Wednesday, November 23, 2016.
“I am honored for the full support and confidence of Governor Hutchinson in my ability to lead DIS through a time of transition,” Jones said. “I have asked the competent, professional, committed team of employees at DIS to rise to the challenge and help me help the agency become stronger and better.”
Jones has served as deputy director since January 2016. She previously served as Hutchinson’s outreach liaison to the Hispanic community and served as an assistant professor in Harding University’s Department of Management Information Systems, teaching data management, database design, and business applications programming. Prior to that, she served as a solutions developer for Little Rock-based Acxiom, and as a database developer for Pennzoil.
Jones holds a B.S. in Computer Science and an M.B.A. from Harding University. She replaces Herschel Cleveland, who retired in June of 2015.
