We are a state agency, established in 1977, that provides information technology solutions to better serve the citizens of Arkansas.
Whether it’s providing project management to ensure agency budget dollars are wisely spent or securing our state network, we’re constantly working to deliver the best to our public service customers at the city, county, and state level. We help them work smarter, not harder. This year we will touch thousands of IT users and manage services worth millions, all to make Arkansas eGovernment accessible, cost-effective, and secure.
In addition to connecting the state of Arkansas to the Internet, DIS’s 200+ professionals provide equipment hosting, network, and professional services. A few examples:
- Data Storage
- Project Management
- Network Security
- Web-Based Training
We are also the driving force behind systems like drivers license renewal, the Arkansas Public School Computer Network (APSCN), and state of Arkansas tax systems.
DIS is a cost recovery agency. User-charging promotes an equitable approach to financing the Department of Information Systems by fairly charging agencies for the products and services they use.
Using an enterprise approach, DIS leads the operation of IT staff, systems, and services for the state of Arkansas. DIS is an executive branch agency that interacts with various legislative groups including the Joint Committee on Advanced Communications and Information Technology and the Joint Performance Review AASIS Subcommittee.
