Telephone Services
What is the Service?
D I S is proud to offer Voice-Over Internet
Protocol (VoIP) telephony. This cutting edge
telecommunications technology offers unimaginable
potential in the future. VoIP eliminates the
need for separate data and voice telephone
service networks. In addition, VoIP can reduce
long distance charges by carrying voice transmissions
over an I P (data) network. A host of features
are available with VoIP, including Unified
Messaging that can deliver voice mail as an
e-mail.
I P telephony options include:
I P Station Line (Alltel; Faulkner, Pulaski
and Saline counties):
- Call forwarding
- Call transfer
- Ad hoc conferencing for
four people
- Local and long distance

What should the customer expect?
I P Telephony services include unassisted
phone move (plug and play) capabilities. Calls
could be local within the agency and to Little
Rock if agency has exclusive use of I P. I
P Telephony services do not require separate
wiring for LAN and telephone services. Service
availability is 90% to 95% and depends on cable
facilities in the service area. Attendant console
and paging is available at no extra charge.
